TARGET Revision 18.3

September 2004

1. F3 screen now displays (and allows entry of) the new data source identifier field. This is intended for use late in duplicate removal for lists purchased to be added to TARGET data. As an example, if you were to buy a list from D&B it would contain the DUNS number.

2. The prospect merge function will now copy the data source id field if the FROM prospect has a non-blank field and the TO prospect has a blank field.

3. Machine Entry (F9) now allows entry of machine selection code characters. This is a 6-character field that behaves in the same fashion as the prospect selection codes and is used by the prospect list generator.

4. Machine Inquiry (F8) now displays the machine selection code characters (see #3 above).

5. Machine Maintenance (Back Office #41) displays and allows entry/change of the machine selection code characters (see #3 above).

6. Prospect List by Machines (Back Office #32, #12) has several changes. It now allows optional specification of machine selection codes; if specified, only machines that match at least one of the codes given are selected. Also, after an output choice (eg; labels) is selected, a count of unique prospects will be displayed prior to producing output.

7. A new field "lead source" may now be entered at the time a machine is quoted. This is a single character normally used to track the source of the lead (UEN, brochure, website, etc). We suggest you use codes that match the advertising codes you use but that's up to you. The lead source shows on the final sale report, the list of final sales, and is the first character of the second line of the F4 entry for each quote.

8. On the Machine List (Back Office #13, #11) if the S date option is selected, scrapped machines will be tested against scrap date, not entry date. Scrap date is shown on the report for scrapped machines.

9. Prospect List by Machines (Back Office #32, #12) list on paper now shows * as machine type for a B machine for the prospect from whom it was purchased.

10. In version 18.2, the quote print screen skipped the fax image field; this has been fixed.

11. There is a new report available to be faxed or e-mailed that is a combination of the old price list, inventory list, and available for sale reports. This now appears on the F11 screen instead of the F12 screen and replaces all three other choices in the prospect list generator output choice screen. The new report is called "Stock List"; when e-mailed, it is sent in HTML format so the formatting is nicer. The report production process allows choice of showing price and location, as well as specifying a title and (for e-mails) a subject. Defaults for all values may be set with system controls. Please see the "Stock List" section of the system controls documentation on our web site for details on setting these and their defaults. You may also specify a machine advertising code as a method for picking out the machines for the stock list; this allows customized collections of machines. There is an implicit requirement that each machine be coded with the # for UEN since the e-mail contains a link to the machine on your website.

12. A new control variable QEATCH may be used to specify an attachment will be sent with e-mailed quotes. This me be used for promotional information or terms & conditions. The data should specify the folder and file name for the attachment (eg; PDF/TANDC.PDF). As always, this may be overridden in either direction when the quote is sent.

13. In Machine Inquiry (F8) if there is no currently selected prospect or the current prospect does not match the prospect used to enter the machine (normally the original seller) a new option S<witch> will be displayed. This changes the currently selected prospect to be the the original entry prospect and goes immediately to Prospect Tracking (F4). Why? you ask. The most common use would be on S machines to check with the prospect to see if the machine is still available. We expect to think of other uses. Note that if the machine is a B, the prospect switch is to the one who bought the machine.

14. While we're discussing Machinery Inquiry, the screen format has been changed slightly to make a bit more room. We hope this isn't too upsetting but dig we must. The category sort fields are now displayed two per line in order from left to right. As an example, for L3000 (lathes) swing is at the left, centers is on the right, then manufacturer is underneath on the left again. The upside of this is we now have room to display both the "sold to" and the "aquired from" prospects for B machines.
